How do I get started with Empower?

Empower is the recordkeeper* for the UU Plan.

Please go to the Empower website and click on REGISTER to set up your online account.

How to register your accountManténgase bien encaminado a través de Internet

Once you register your account, please:

  • Review and make any corrections to your contact information – address, phone(s), and email address(es). NOTE: Please do not use work email addresses for your retirement plan account as work emails belong to the organization, not to you, and are not considered to be secure. This is especially true for email addresses that are based on a specific role and are shared with the person who held the position before or after you.
  • If currently employed at a UU participating employer, enter your current, or new, pretax employee contribution rate (salary deferral). Your salary deferral rate from your Employee Contributions Agreement did not transfer to Empower, so you will need to make that election with Empower online or by phone. If you had a salary deferral setup with your employer, they will continue with that amount, but please enter it into Empower, or select a new amount if you want to make a change.
  • Review your investment allocation and make any desired changes.
  • Establish a power of attorney (POA) at Empower if you had one established at TIAA. This information did not transfer to Empower. Please contact retirementplan@uua.org for assistance.
  • If interested, download the free Empower app, available on both iOS® and Android™ devices.
